Last September, Illinois lawmakers passed a voucher-like tax credit system, which provides a handout to private schools that meet state educational standards. However, the Illinois House of Representatives is now considering HB 5067, a bill which would eliminate all educational standards and requirements for religious schools, even if they accept state funding.
We need you to take action by urging your Illinois representatives to oppose creating special exemptions for religious schools. Tell them that state-funded religious schools threaten religious freedom, lack accountability, and deprive students of rights and protections. Illinois’ youth deserve better.
